ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition affecting attention, impulse control, and executive function. It's often under-recognised — especially in adults, women, and individuals with predominantly inattentive presentations.

Common signs that prompt evaluation

You don't need to have all of these symptoms to warrant an evaluation. Even a few that significantly impact daily life are enough reason to seek an assessment.
What the evaluation involves
- 1Clinical interview
Your provider gathers a full picture — symptom history, developmental background, school and work history, family history, and any prior evaluations.
- 2Rating scales
Standardised behavioural and symptom rating scales are completed by you and, where relevant, a parent, partner, or teacher to capture cross-setting patterns.
- 3Objective testing
When indicated, your provider may recommend a computer-based attention test. It is purchased separately and you complete it on your own — in our office or at home — then your provider reviews the results with you.
- 4Feedback & plan
Your provider explains the results clearly, provides a diagnosis or differential, and collaborates with you on a personalised treatment plan.
Parent and teacher rating scales alongside clinical interview. School records reviewed where available.
Patient, parent, and teacher input combined. An objective attention test may be recommended. Focus on academic and social functioning.

Common questions about ADHD evaluation
We evaluate children, adolescents, and adults. There is no age limit for an ADHD assessment. Many adults come to us having struggled undiagnosed for years — especially women and those with primarily inattentive presentations who were missed in childhood.
Our comprehensive evaluation includes a clinical interview (covering developmental, medical, family, and social history) and behaviour and symptom rating scales. In some cases your provider will also recommend a computer-based attention test, which is purchased separately and completed by you on your own. We review any prior records, report cards, or previous assessments where available.
A comprehensive ADHD evaluation typically takes 60–90 minutes for the clinical interview and rating scales. If your provider recommends a computer-based attention test, you complete that separately on your own time — in our office or at home — and then review the results at a follow-up.
Your provider will explain the findings, discuss the diagnosis (or rule it out), and present treatment options. If ADHD is confirmed, we develop a personalised management plan — which may include medication, behavioural strategies, therapy, or a combination.
No. While medication (stimulants or non-stimulants) can be highly effective for ADHD, many patients benefit from therapy, coaching, and lifestyle modifications alone or in combination with medication. We'll work with you to find the right approach.
Yes. Following a confirmed ADHD diagnosis, we can provide documentation to support requests for academic accommodations (extended test time, etc.) or workplace adjustments. This typically requires a completed evaluation and follow-up consultation.
